The e-ID : what is it?

The e-ID is a unique identification number (NIU) based on the capture of biometric and biographical data of each person living in Togo and residing on Togolese territory. It will serve as a reference for verifying the identity of individuals in their interactions with public administration.

The Biometric Identification (e-ID) project is the first project on the 2020-2025 government roadmap with the aim of offering identity and guaranteeing health coverage and access to basic services for all.

How to get your e-ID card ?

1. Pre-register

2. Go to the fixed or mobile check-in centre

3. Provide biographical and biometric attributes

Present valid identification:

Identification card, voter’s card, passport or any type of photo ID card

4. Receive your proof of receipt with your NIU and QR code within 24-48 hours

In the absence of written proof, registration will take place on the basis of two (2) witnesses registered on the basic identification system (fID) or approved by the National Identification Agency click here to get your e-ID card

what benefits ?

The e-ID will make it easier to provide rapid humanitarian assistance and locate affected people in the event of natural disasters, conflict or other emergency situations.

Example:

Rapid identification of people affected by climate hazards, accidents or health shocks;

Rapid distribution of help based on a unique, reliable and secure identity.

Organizing relief effectively.
The e-ID will reduce the risk of social exclusion by ensuring that each individual is officially recognised and registered. This contributes to building a more inclusive society.

Exemple :

Access to public services using the NIU as a key for interaction with government

simplification of administrative procedures.

Children will be able to access school and exams with their NIU;

The poor will be able to benefit from health care through universal health insurance

Targeted social subsidies in the fields of agriculture, crafts, ...

Access to mobile phone services...
The e-ID will contribute to the collection of accurate demographic data, thus facilitating economic development planning, public resource management and effective policy formulation.

Exemple :

Better knowledge of the demographic situation to promote the construction of socio-community infrastructures (schools, hospitals, market,...)
The e-ID will enable access to financial services, opening bank accounts, participation in the formal economy and obtaining credit. This contributes to the economic development of individuals and the nation.

Exemple :

Women will be able to open bank accounts and access credit to boost their income-generating activities.

Individuals in the informal sector will be able to formalize their activities and have access to public contracts.
The e-ID will thus encourage active participation by individuals in their communities.

Exemple :

Membership of associations and other organizations;

participation in community activities.
