Biometric identification: in the run-up to the pilot phase, ANID launches new tests

(Togo Officiel) – In Togo, preparations are intensifying for the deployment of the mass biometric campaign. As a prelude to the pilot phase, the National Identification Agency (NDIA) is running multiple tests.

The government entity has launched a new proof of concept (proof of concept) in this direction since 04 October. 

The activity, second of its kind after the first organized from 20 April to 26 May 2022, aims to register for 30 days at least 2,000 people, according to a quota and a chronology defined by region: Grand Lomé/4-14 October: 900 people; Maritime/17-October 26: 650 people; Plateaux/30-31 October: 200 people; Centrale/3-4 November: 200 people.

The objective is to test all functionalities of the registration technology platform, as well as business processes, biometric kits and their reliability, generation of biometric numbers, to identify any technical problems and the arrangements to be made. 

The data collected (after prior consent of the persons) will be of a biometric nature (fingerprints and iris) and demographic (age, sex, name and first names, address, contact, email). 

Upon completion of the registration, people will receive a message with their identification number, a registration receipt and a QR code card.

As a reminder, the biometric identification of people should in time allow Togo to improve its social protection.
